Homemade Fudge Rounds

A tasty and nostalgic treat, homemade fudge rounds bring back memories of the store-bought variety. These rich and creamy chocolate-filled cookies are the ideal way to indulge your sweet tooth.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Filling:
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Turn the oven on to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius and line two baking sheets with parchment paper

Mix the flour, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium-sized bowl

Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a different, large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy

Blend the egg and vanilla essence until thoroughly blended

Mixing until a dough forms, gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ones

Round tablespoons of dough should be dropped, separated by roughly 2 inches, onto the baking sheets that have been prepared

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are set but still soft, in a preheated oven

After taking them out of the oven, let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets before moving them to a wire rack to finish cooling

As the cookies cool, get the filling ready

Beat the softened butter, milk, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract in a medium-sized bowl until the mixture is smooth and creamy

After the cookies have cooled completely, spread a good amount of filling on the bottom of one and sandwich it between two other cookies, bottom sides facing, to form a fudge round

Continue adding cookies and filling to the rest

Before eating, let the filled fudge rounds set for approximately thirty minutes to solidify
