Whimsical Rose Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Food coloring pink, red, or desired color
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar for coating
- Edible glitter optional, for decoration
Instructions:
Melt the butter and mix it with the powdered sugar in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy
Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until everything is well mixed
Mix the all-purpose flour and salt into the wet ingredients slowly at first, until a soft dough forms
Split the dough in half
In one part of the dough, add food coloring and knead it until the color is spread out evenly
If you want, do it again with different colors
Put each color of dough in its own piece of plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes
Warm your oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet
Roll out a small piece of each color of dough into a thin rope
To make a rose shape, twist the ropes together to make a swirling effect
If you want the dough to look really fancy, roll it in granulated sugar
Put the rose cookies on the baking sheet that has been prepared
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden
Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way
You can add edible glitter to the cookies after they have cooled if you want to add a little extra fun
