Slow Cooker Apple Pie Filling
Enjoy the tastes of fall with this apple pie filling made in a slow cooker that doesn't contain gluten. Great for pies, crisps, or ice cream toppings.
Ingredients:
- 8 cups sliced and peeled apples
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons gluten-free all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, gluten-free all-purpose flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt
Transfer the mixture into a slow cooker
Drizzle lemon juice and vanilla extract over the apple mixture
Stir gently to combine
Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally
Once done, allow the filling to cool before using in pies or desserts
